Melinda Harper

Melinda Harper’s untitled print explores the possibilities of abstraction, testing and playing with what happens when different forms and colour combinations are brought into dialogue with each other. The artist’s thinking for the piece involved a hands-on approach, in which painted coloured stripes and circular wooden forms were moved around like collaged elements until their placement felt right and the final composition emerged. In 'Untitled', this sense of the circles sitting above (or upon) the coloured stripes is created by the printed element that carefully outlines each form and overlaps the vertical stripes beneath.
